Bark (CA)
Tier F · Reputation warningLondon-based services marketplace with a Canadian site where pros spend credits to respond to requests shared with up to five pros
⚠ Bark's BBB profile shows no BBB accreditation for the company that runs Bark's Canadian site. The profile, for Bark.com Global Limited under an Austin, Texas address, showed 85 complaints closed in the last three years when checked on September 30, 2026. Under Bark's Canadian terms you spend credits to respond before you can reach the customer, up to five professionals can contact the same customer, and credits are refunded only if you report invalid contact details within 7 days.
Bark is an online services marketplace founded in the UK in 2014 and headquartered in London; private equity firm EMK Capital acquired a majority stake in April 2022. Its careers site says it launched in Canada in 2019, and the Canadian site covers business, events, health, home and lessons categories, including plumbing, electrical, roofing and landscaping. Customers post a request and professionals spend credits to respond, and Bark's terms say a maximum of five professionals will contact the customer on a general request.
Pros
- + No commission on jobs you win, and follow-up messages are free
- + Canadian site covering trades and many other service categories
- + If your first credit pack wins no business, Bark returns the credits once
Cons
- − You spend credits to respond before you know whether the customer will answer
- − Up to five professionals can contact the same customer
- − No dollar prices on the Canadian pricing page, and credits expire after 3 months
- − Refunds only for invalid contact details reported within 7 days
Canada note
Bark runs a Canadian site at bark.com/en/ca, launched in 2019 according to its careers site, but its Canadian terms name Bark.com Global Limited of London, England, as the operator. The Canadian pricing page explains the credit system without listing any dollar prices.
TrustedPros
Tier A · ListedToronto contractor directory and referral service, in business since 2004 and separate from Angi's HomeStars
TrustedPros is a Canadian contractor directory and referral service run by TrustedPros Inc of Toronto, which its BBB profile says started in 2004. It is not among the home services businesses that Angi Inc. lists in its 2025 annual report, which name HomeStars as Angi's Canadian marketplace. TrustedPros' website blocks automated reads, so its current services and prices were not confirmed this run.
Pros
- + Canadian operator based in Toronto, in business since 2004 according to its BBB profile
- + Separate from Angi Inc., which owns HomeStars and HomeAdvisor
- + No BBB complaints closed in the last three years (checked 30 September 2026)
Cons
- − Not BBB accredited
- − Current membership prices could not be confirmed because its site blocks automated reads
- − Little recent news coverage: the latest press release we found dates from 2017
Canada note
TrustedPros Inc is based at 111 Peter St in Toronto, according to its BBB profile, which shows no accreditation and no complaints closed in the last three years (checked 30 September 2026). Angi Inc.'s 2025 annual report names HomeStars, not TrustedPros, as its Canadian marketplace, so TrustedPros is a separate option for contractors who want to avoid the Angi group.
