Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
WrenchStack ("WrenchStack," "we," "us") is an independent research publication covering software and service vendors for trades and field-service businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep our data practices deliberately minimal.
The short version
- By default we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) — no personal profiles, no cross-site tracking.
- We load Google Analytics only if you accept our cookie banner — and you can decline or withdraw consent at any time.
- We only collect personal information you choose to send us (e.g., when you email us or submit a form).
- We never sell your personal information.
- We don't run user accounts, and we don't operate a newsletter at this time.
Information we collect
1. Analytics data
By default we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal or identifiable information. It reports aggregate metrics only — page views, referring sites, country, and device type — and we cannot identify individual visitors from it.
With your consent, we also use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) to understand traffic in more detail. Google Analytics sets cookies, so it is loaded only after you click "Accept" on our cookie banner; if you decline, it is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set. We enable IP anonymization and do not use Google Analytics advertising or remarketing features.
2. Information you provide
If you contact us by email or submit a form (for example, the vendor-submission form), we receive the information you choose to include — typically your name, email address, and your message. Form submissions are processed by Web3Forms and delivered to our inbox. We use this only to respond to you.
Cookies and your choices
By default, WrenchStack sets no analytics or advertising cookies — our default analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless. If you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure traffic (with IP anonymization). If you click "Decline," no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser, and you can change it at any time:
Separately, WrenchStack earns affiliate commissions on some outbound links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). When you click an affiliate link and leave our site, the destination vendor or its affiliate network (for example, PartnerStack) may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. Those cookies are governed by the destination's privacy policy, not ours, and we do not control or have access to them.
How we use information
- To respond to questions, corrections, and vendor inquiries you send us.
- To understand, in aggregate, which content is useful so we can improve it.
- To detect and prevent abuse of the site.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of service providers, each with its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, security, and cookieless Web Analytics.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — consent-based, cookie-using site analytics, loaded only if you accept.
- Web3Forms — processing form submissions.
- Affiliate networks and vendors — only when you click an outbound affiliate link and leave our site.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not build advertising profiles or run third-party ad networks.
- We do not share the contents of your messages except as needed to respond to you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and the right to know that we do not sell it. Because we collect so little, in most cases the only personal data we hold is an email thread you started. To exercise any right, email hello@wrenchstack.com and we'll act on it.
Data retention
We retain email and form correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request and keep a reasonable record, then delete it. Cloudflare Web Analytics contains no personal data. Google Analytics data, when you've consented to it, is retained according to Google's data-retention settings and used only in aggregate for trend analysis.
Children
WrenchStack is a business-to-business publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
