How the quiz works
How does the matching quiz work?
The quiz scores every tool listed for your trade against your answers. Points come from the tool's fit for your trade (its 1-10 trade fit, times 4), team-size match (3 to 10 points, times 2), budget fit (up to 10, explained below), the features behind your priority that the tool lists (2 points each) and the integration you picked (up to 9). Trade fit carries the most weight. The 3 highest totals are your matches. Scoring runs in your browser and your answers are not sent to us; the logos in the results load from Google's favicon service.
Are the matches affiliate-influenced?
No. The formula is the same for every tool and has no input for affiliate partnerships, so a tool we earn nothing from ranks above a partner whenever it scores higher on your answers. The weights are listed in the first answer above.
What if none of the 3 matches feel right?
Take the quiz again with different answers (after trade fit, team size and budget carry the most weight). Or browse your trade's page, which ranks every tool listed for that trade. Or compare any two tools side-by-side via the comparison directory.
Why only 5 questions?
The five answers (trade, team size, budget, top priority, key integration) match the fields our data records for each tool, so they are what the quiz can score. What the data does not record, such as how your team takes to an app, needs the full reviews and a demo or trial where the vendor offers one.
How accurate is the team-size match?
Each answer stands for one team size (solo 1, 2-5 people 4, 6-15 people 10, 16-50 people 30, 50+ people 75). A tool scores 10 when that number falls inside its stated best team size, 7 when it falls within half the low end to one and a half times the high end, 3 otherwise, and 5 when the tool states no range. The result is doubled, so team size can move a tool by up to 14 points.
How is budget fit scored?
Your budget is compared with the tool's published starting price, not with a price for your whole team: for a per-user plan that is the price of one user, so check the tool's pricing at your team size. For the answers below $1,000, a tool scores 8 when its starting price (a free plan counts as $0) is within your budget and 0 when it is above; a tool with no monthly price scores 3 on the $400-$1,000 answer and 0 below that. On the $1,000+ answer, a tool with no monthly price scores 10, a starting price of $400 or more scores 8, and a lower one 4.
