GIG Insurance Oman (GIG Gulf) vs Liva Insurance (Oman)

Two Oman business insurance options, compared side by side for Oman trades.

Which should you choose?

GIG Insurance Oman (GIG Gulf) and Liva Insurance (Oman) are both Tier A, which every business insurance entry without a reputation warning receives, so the tier does not separate them. Weigh the pros, cons, pricing and Oman-specific notes below against your trade and region.

GIG Insurance Oman (GIG Gulf)

Tier A ยท Listed

Engineering insurance for contractors from GIG Gulf, formerly AXA Gulf

GIG Gulf is the former AXA Gulf business, bought by Kuwait's Gulf Insurance Group in 2021; Canada's Fairfax Financial lists Gulf Insurance Group among its insurance companies. Its Oman site lists contractors all-risk (from villas to bridges), erection all-risk, contractor's plant and machinery, machinery breakdown and electronic equipment cover, sold project by project or as an annual multi-project policy. GIG Gulf says it has a specialised team of engineers to help with risk management.

Pros

  • + Full engineering range: CAR, EAR, plant, machinery, electronic equipment
  • + Annual policy option covering multiple projects
  • + In-house engineering team for risk management (GIG Gulf says)
  • + Oman toll-free line 800 70 292

Cons

  • โˆ’ No published rates
  • โˆ’ Product page gives cover names, not limits or exclusions
  • โˆ’ No online quote price shown for engineering cover

Oman note

GIG Gulf is the renamed AXA Gulf business, which Gulf Insurance Group bought in 2021. Ask whether an annual multi-project CAR policy suits your workload better than insuring each project separately.

Typical Oman pricing: Quote-based; no published rates.

Liva Insurance (Oman)

Tier A ยท Listed

Omani insurer formed from NLGIC and Al Ahlia, writing contractors all-risk cover

Liva Insurance SAOC is the Oman company of the Liva brand, which NLGIC and RSA Middle East adopted in 2023 after NLGIC bought RSA Middle East in 2022. Liva says its business comes from integrating NLGIC and Al Ahlia Insurance and that it serves over 1.5 million customers across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE and Oman. Its Oman product list includes contractors all-risk, contractor plant and machinery, machinery insurance case by case, and workmen's compensation.

Pros

  • + Contractors all-risk and contractor plant and machinery cover
  • + Workmen's compensation from the same insurer
  • + Fire, marine cargo and motor fleet cover for trade firms
  • + Operates in five GCC markets

Cons

  • โˆ’ No Erection All Risk product listed online
  • โˆ’ Machinery cover only case by case
  • โˆ’ No published rates

Oman note

Liva says it was formed by integrating NLGIC and Al Ahlia Insurance, two names Omani contractors may know from older policies. Its online list has CAR but no erection all-risk, so ask directly if you install plant or equipment.

Typical Oman pricing: Quote-based; no published rates.
