About Trash Flow
Trash Flow is billing and route management software for trash haulers, made by Ivy Computer, Inc. of Waterbury Center, Vermont. It is installed software that runs on Windows 10 (version 21H2 or newer) and Windows 11, with an optional cloud database for companies with more than one office. It is built from modules: billing (Standard and Advanced Billing), routing, dispatch and work orders, container tracking, AVS mapping and address verification, route optimization, the TeleRoute in-truck app, landfill and transfer station management (TipTicket) with a scale interface, and an Accounting Link that exports payments and charges for import into your accounting software.
Billing handles multiple billing cycles (annual, monthly, quarterly and others), discounts and promotions, variable rate charges, printed statements and invoices, and a record of changes to customer accounts. TrashBilling.com, included with Standard and Advanced Billing, lets your customers pay by Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express and set up auto-pay; Trash Flow says it charges per transaction with no monthly minimum or contract. Container tracking covers roll-offs, compactors, dumpsters and carts, with rental fees beyond a free-day period and drop, pull, disposal and overweight charges. TeleRoute runs on standard tablets and phones, with hands-free stop completion, photos, live truck tracking on the dispatch map, and offline work that syncs later.
Ivy Computer says it has built software for the hauling industry since 1985, and its about page dates Trash Flow itself to 1989. Technical support runs 24/7 by phone and email. The first 90 days of support after purchase are free; after that, an optional support contract costs 1% of your system total a month or 12% a year, and since May 1, 2025, it includes offsite backup.
Trash Flow publishes many prices but not a standalone core license price. Its container tracking page lists a Base, Billing and Advanced Billing bundle with container tracking for $3,600, or $4,150 with routing added, and the container tracking module alone for $550. The landfill package (TipTicket with Trash Flow Plus and one scale house) is $3,950. Monthly add-ons include AVS mapping ($25 a month for one license), route optimization ($60 a month for the first user), TeleRoute ($35 per truck per month, requires AVS) and the cloud database ($40 a month for one license, less per network for more). The trade-off: you pay for modules, monthly add-ons and a support contract, and you run it on your own Windows PCs, rather than paying one monthly subscription for a browser-based system.
